The Fundamentals of Nursing Lab is a crucial component of nursing education, providing hands-on experience in basic nursing skills and techniques. Our college having well equipped lab with new technology mannequins like Adult advance CPR mannequin, male and female basic nursing mannequins and IV arm facility.
The Department of Adult Health Nursing is dedicated to enhancing the quality of patient care by developing standards for nursing practice across various settings. It focuses on preparing nurses to excel in their roles as professional and competent practitioners, providing evidence-based preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services. The department aims to equip nurses to deliver high-quality care across all levels of the healthcare delivery system. Our college features a well-equipped lab with advanced technology mannequins, including adult advanced CPR mannequins, male and female basic nursing mannequins, and an IV arm facility.
This Department trains students to deliver healthcare with a focus on both rural and urban communities. Emphasis is placed on the importance of health, disease prevention, and health promotion. Experienced staff offer comprehensive theoretical and practical guidance, teaching students to care for individuals, families, and communities by applying epidemiological principles to prevent, promote, and restore health. Students also engage in government health programs. Notably, the Institute is one of the few in the country to provide Post-Graduate education in Community Health Nursing.
A nutrition lab in nursing education focuses on the study and application of nutrition principles relevant to healthcare. In addition to theoretical lessons, students receive regular practical training at Shri B.M. Patil Medical College Hospital and Research Center. At this super-specialty hospital, experienced nursing faculty guide students through various procedures and provide periodic case-based orientations.
In this Department, the role of the nurse is akin to that of a midwife, with a focus on teaching all the necessary skills to provide nursing care throughout the maternity cycle and delivery. Students gain a thorough understanding of female reproductive health, which equips them to offer comprehensive care to women at high risk during pregnancy. The Institute ensures that both undergraduate and postgraduate nurses acquire extensive knowledge across all areas, enabling them to be effective members of a versatile healthcare team, performing various roles in nursing and patient care.
This specialized Department focuses on the art and science of caring for newborns and children up to the age of 14. Senior staff provide training in this delicate field through the 'Well Baby Clinic,' 'Under Five Clinic,' and regular child health OPDs. The advanced facilities available include a Neonatal ICU, Pediatric ICU, and a General Pediatric Ward, allowing nursing students to gain comprehensive experience in childcare through these resources.
Students receive regular practical training at the BLDE (DU) Shri B.M. Patil Medical College Hospital and Research Center, Vijayapura in addition to theory classes. A skilled nursing faculty member explains various procedures to the students and periodically orients them on existing cases.
The library is the cornerstone of our educational institution, embodying a sanctuary of knowledge that students and staff alike eagerly visit to benefit from its resources. It is spacious, well-organized, and includes a UG Reading Room, a Digital Library, and a newspaper section. The library features a unique collection of reference books and textbooks to suit the diverse interests of our engaged students and staff. It also provides access to current journals, bound volumes, and new books, which are updated annually in response to student needs and staff suggestions. Our attentive library staff is always available to support and assist users.
To encourage the interchange of ideas, the institute routinely hosts academic events, web series, symposiums, conferences, seminars, workshops, and day celebrations.
In addition to theoretical lessons, students regularly receive hands-on training in the Skill Lab at Shri B.M. Patil Medical College Hospital and Research Center's Simulation Lab.
Male and female students are accommodated in separate hostels. The facilities include clean living quarters, sufficient water supply, hygienic food, and appropriate security measures.
The expansive 10-acre playground is ideal for cricket, football, kabaddi, track events, and various outdoor exercises. Participating in these sports activities provides nursing students with an excellent opportunity to manage stress, build teamwork skills, and maintain physical fitness. Many students have also earned University Blue recognition in different zonal and interzonal competitions.
