Community Health Nursing

Department of Community Health Nursing was established in the year of 2020 with the B. Sc (N) programme. Department has been promoting the knowledge of Community Health Nursing and delivery of health care that will ensure competence in working at the different levels of health care in community area. Now the innovative methods like Small group learning were introduced through Educational workshop, Self Learning Assessment Module, Web Forum and Self learning desk is in practice.

Faculty and student members keep pace with the recent developments in the subjects through regular guest lecture by experts to discuss the recent advancement in various nursing and community related problems in rural and urban area. Department is committed to improve health status of the community through educating and providing services to the people such as Mass awareness programme, Health camps, Screening, National heath programmes, Surveillance, Epidemic control measures, risk management services etc. Community health services started in Tikota from 2020 and gradually expand to Rural and Urban area of Tikota Taluka.

To produce globally challenged and dynamic community health nurse with capacity in overcoming all challenges which are occurring in providing health care delivery services and system in health care setting in rural and urban area.

Objectives

Provide information and resources to help individuals make informed health choices and adopt healthy behaviors.

Implement programs and interventions to prevent the occurrence and spread of diseases, including vaccinations, screenings, and health campaigns.

That all community members have access to necessary healthcare services, including primary care, preventive services, and specialty care.

Address barriers to accessing healthcare, such as financial, transportation, or cultural barriers.

Facilitate continuity of care by coordinating services between healthcare providers, community resources, and patients.

Support individuals in managing chronic conditions through education, self-care support, and monitoring.

Advocate for policies and practices that promote community health and address social determinants of health.

Involve community members in health decision-making and planning to ensure that interventions are relevant and effective.

Develop and implement targeted programs for at-risk groups, such as children, the elderly, and those with low socioeconomic status.

Connect vulnerable populations with necessary resources, including social services, mental health support, and financial assistance.

Regularly assess the health needs and priorities of the community to guide program development and resource allocation.

Monitor health trends and disease patterns within the community to identify emerging health issues and adjust interventions accordingly.

Organize educational sessions on various health topics, including nutrition, exercise, mental health, and preventive care.

Outreach initiatives to educate community members about health resources and services available to them.

Promote and support efforts to improve the physical and social environment, including clean air and water, safe housing, and healthy community spaces.

Advocate for and implement community safety programs to reduce injuries and accidents.

Provide resources and support to empower individuals and families to take an active role in managing their health and making healthy choices.

Establish support systems and networks to help individuals navigate health challenges and access necessary services.

Assess the effectiveness of community health programs and interventions to ensure they are meeting objectives and achieving desired outcomes.

Use evaluation findings to make improvements to existing programs and develop new initiatives based on community needs and feedback.

Facilities

Community Health Nursing Laboratory is fully equipped with all Community related services equipments, Family Folders, Various Audio Visual Aids, Rapid Sand filter. Department is equipped with library of adequate number of books and computer with Wi-Fi facility as learning resources.
